55 Flash Fiction - Single Moms

I don't know why this popped into my head, but I think about how hard single dads and moms work when they are abandoned by their partner to raise kids alone. So many strong adults come from a family where they see their mom working three jobs just to put food on the table. It's like a little miracle. So here is a tribute to them.

Kate didn't think she could do it another day but she wanted to. Eyes crusty with sleep she forced herself out of bed after three hours of sleep.

She had worked two jobs since her deadbeat husband left her alone with their three kids. Her youngest entered the room and said, "I love you mommy".

This post was brought to you by 55 Flash Fiction, and the letter W, and the number 7.

Touching Mr. O. I was a single parent for years, the caveat was that I was single only in the truest sense of the word. I was lucky enough to have a co-parent ~ a dad who adored his children and who wouldn't have dreamed of abandoning them.

Sad when it is as you have painted.

You'll find my 55 ~ Skipping Stones is posted.

As my mother always said, "You do what you have to." To be loved as well is icing.
