Finally people who aren't smart enough to crack an egg can cook. *Note to self: Don't crack egg by smashing it on the counter*

Wordless Wednesday

This post is brought to you by Wordless Wednesday.

Questionable Exercise Equipment

I love commercials and infomercials, especially when they show some one doing a simple task, but they make it look so hard and it's in black and white. Well I saw a hilarious commercial yesterday, and although it didn't have a black and white scene I couldn't stop laughing. When I went to find a video on You Tube and I found a segment from Ellen. You need to check it out.

As with Ellen I have few words after watching those commercials, but if you want to take it to another level check out this explicit parody.

All I can say is I need to order one of these for my wife all my loved ones.

Tasty Tuesday - Party Food

Welcome to the second edition of Tasty Tuesday! This week is New Years Eve and I thought that a great theme would be party food since there will be many parties this week. My idea of awesome party is just a bunch of different appetizers, drinks, and great friends! One of my favorite appetizers has always been cheese sticks, and I have to say if I ever find out who invented fried cheese I am going to give them a big wet kiss shake their hand. One of my favorite Food Network Star winners Guy Fieri had a great episode where he made a tasty looking recipe called "I've Got the Need, the Need for Fried Cheese" and I thought it would be an awesome addition to any New Years Eve party.

I've Got the Need, the Need for Fried Cheese

Cook time: 15 Minutes, Level: Intermediate, Yield: 4 Servings

* 4 cups canola oil
* 2 eggs
* 1/4 cup milk
* 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
* 3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
* 8 ounces mozzarella string cheese, individually wrapped
* 16 thin slices salami, 2 1/2-inches in diameter
* 8 egg roll/spring roll wrappers

In a medium saucepan, add oil and heat to 325 degrees F.

In a medium shallow bowl, whisk eggs and milk thoroughly. In another medium bowl mix panko and Italian bread crumbs.

Dredge 1 entire side of egg roll wrapper into egg wash. Place 2 slices of salami in the center of wrapper, towards the edge closest to you. Place 1 stick of cheese on top of salami. Roll wrapper edge closest to you over the filling. Tuck ends and continue to roll until it forms an egg roll shape.

Dredge rolled wrapper in egg wash again, and then thoroughly coat in bread crumb mixture. (Wrappers can be frozen for future use at this point.)

Add 1 to 2 rolled wrappers to oil at a time, cooking 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Be careful not to over cook, or cook on too high of a temperature as wraps may explode. Remove fried cheese to a paper-towel lined plate and serve immediately

While I was finding this recipe I also saw another great recipe for Pizza on a Stick. What says party better then Pizza, or something on a stick!

Pizza on a Stick

Cook time: 20 minutes, Level:Easy, Yield: 8 Servings

* 1 13.8-ounce package refrigerated pizza dough
* All-purpose flour, for dusting
* 1 cup marinara sauce
* 1 1/2cups shredded mozzarella cheese
* 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
* 3/4 cup chopped pepperoni, black olives and/or mushrooms
* Extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* Pinch of dried oregano
* Pinch of red pepper flakes

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-by-16-inch rectangle. Cut into 6-by-8-inch quarters, then cut each quarter in half diagonally to make 8 triangles.

Brush each triangle of dough with marinara sauce, leaving a 1/2-inch border all around; sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan (reserve some of the sauce and cheese for topping). Layer a few pieces of pepperoni, olives and/or mushrooms over the cheese, reserving a few pieces for topping. Slightly fold in the two far corners, then roll up the dough from the long side, like a burrito, until the filling is fully enclosed in a tube, pressing gently to seal.

Carefully insert a popsicle stick or wooden skewer into the center of each pizza roll and arrange on the prepared baking sheets. Brush the rolls with olive oil and more marinara sauce; sprinkle with garlic, oregano and red pepper flakes. Press any extra filling ingredients onto the rolls. Sprinkle with more mozzarella and parmesan. Bake until golden, about 20 minutes.

If it's home with family or at a party, hopefully all of you have a tasty New Years Eve and a great start to the New Year.

I've decided not to use Mr. Linky anymore so please just put your link in the comments if you are participating, and make sure to check in for next weeks theme of Toppings.

Happy Blogaversary

Wow I can’t believe that it has been three years since I first introduced myself and my blog. As I promised before I don’t post everyday but it seems like this year my post frequency has increase. I’m sure the increase has partially been because I want more attention I’ve grown to love blogging, and because my friend Smarmoofus introduced me to memes. I have so much fun with things like 55 Flash Fiction, PhotoHunt, and Wordless Wednesday. I liked the meme thing so much that I decided to start a savory food related meme called Tasty Tuesday. Hopefully as it gets going it will be more exciting and lots of people will participate. *Hint Hint*

I have fun sharing some embarasing/strange moments and also enjoy seeing where I pop up on google searches when someone searches Sham-Hoe.

Sunday Secret

This is my weekly selection from Post Secret. So often I feel this way about the people here in Utah and sadly my more conservative family members. I wish people would be more open and accepting. Oh well that's life.

Tasty Tuesday - Food Traditions

Welcome to the first edition of Tasty Tuesday!!! *Trumpet Fanfare* Since Christmas is this week I thought a great first theme would be Food Traditions. These might be family holiday traditions, a food related tradition that happens anytime, or maybe a food tradition that you want to start.

In my family it was always tradition for my mom to make some yummy holiday treats to share, or just keep for ourselves. She would make Shortbread, Caramels , Nuts and Bolts, and Caramel Corn. It's hard to pick my favorite but I think I would say that the caramel corn was the most fun to make.

I remember that we would spend almost an entire day making popcorn, and after we had a couple giant garbage bags full of popcorn we could start the caramel. Here is my Mom's recipe for a yummy caramel corn:

1 cup Eagle Brand Milk (sweetened condensed milk - any brand will work)
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup Rogers Syrup

Boil to softball stage. Stir constantly. (For info on the Softball Stage Click Here)

Pour over 24-30 cups popped corn. Stir to mix.

I usually use more popcorn (probably more like 40 cups). I usually pour it out on the counter to cool after it is mixed so that it is a little more separated.

Mmmmmmmmm Caramel Corn. Isn't Food awesome?

A fun American food tradition that I thought I would share is the Presidential Turkey. We all love turkey! Well I don't know if we all do, but I LOVE TURKEY... Mmmmmmm juicy succulent turkey. *drools* Sorry I got a little distracted there.

As of 1989 (starting with George H. W. Bush) the president has granted a presidential pardon to a lucky turkey. Awwwwwwww, isn't that cute? "Starting in 2005, the pardoned turkeys have been sent to either the Disneyland Resort in California or the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where they serve as the honorary grand marshals of Disney's Thanksgiving Day Parade." (National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation) What a lucky turkey to be pardoned AND get to live at Disney!

In 2009 Barack Obama pardoned a 45-Pound Turkey named courage.

Doesn't he look delicious cute? The turkey, not the president.

Next Tasty Tuesday's theme is in honor of New Years, it's Party Food!

PhotoHunt - Fast

Since it's getting colder outside our Boxer puppy Bo has been spending more time inside, and it's got me thinking about how fast he's growing up. Since today is his 8 month birthday I thought some pictures of him would be great to post for this weeks topic.

55 Flash Fiction - BLAH

It throbbed, oozed, and he thought it would explode. She laughed as he moaned and he replied, “SHUT UP! IT’S NOT FUNNY!!!” Ok he knew it was kind of funny but he had never felt so sick. It was like that Alien movie but the alien was going to pop out of his sinuses instead.

Happy Birthday to me!

Ok it's not my birthday until January but I got it early. Since my family lives in Canada it can get pricey to send gifts for Christmas, so we order online and have it sent to the person we are giving it to. My mom ordered our Christmas present and thought to get my birthday persent first. When she asked I thought that this wonderful wireless mouse was the ticket.

Since I got a new netbook I decided on this mouse because of it's nano receiver, which means I can leave it in the USB port all the time. YAY! I'm very excited!

For Christmas I want a...

We are so festive around here that we have a little Santa ornament for our fish tank. Normally it sits on top or hangs on the outside, but this year the little woman hung it in the tank. I noticed the other day that our Dojo Loach really likes to tell Santa what he wants for Christmas. HoHoHo

Introducing A Tantilizing Meme

When blogging I seem to go in phases where I'm posting almost daily, to times where I don't post for months. My friends Smarmoofus and Erica introduced me to the world of memes, which are blogs or websites that prompt people to post something on their blog. Not only does it give you post ideas but it brings other meme participants to your blog, and who doesn't like more attention? :P Some of my favorite memes include Wordless Wednesday, 55 Flash Fiction, and PhotoHunt. My love for the memes grew to the point where I thought I should start my own, but it was hard to figure out a topic that people would be interested in and excited about. After brainstorming with the little woman we settled on the topic of FOOD, and with some planning and discussion Tasty Tuesday was born.

The meme Tasty Tuesday will give you weekly themes that prompt you to post videos, pictures, recipes, stories, random facts, etc. Since food is something everybody needs on a daily basis I thought it would be an easy and fun way to host a meme. For those of you who love to get in on things from the beginning you will have your chance next Tuesday (December 22, 2009). In honor of the holidays I thought a good theme would be Food Traditions. For a list of upcoming themes and instructions CLICK HERE.

So that's a little introduction to my new meme Tasty Tuesday, and I hope to see your post on Tuesday.

How do you work here?

Some of the people I work with are morons and I wonder how they are employed here, or anywhere for that matter. Now I have to say that this is very few of my coworkers, but some seem to be extra stupid.

When you start with the company you go through two days of training with HR, and learn about sexual harassment, benefits, etc. If I ever get involved with training new people I will make sure to focus on these little lessons which most people forget:

1) Flush the damn toilet
2) Clean up your trash/spilt food in the lunch room

Those seem like simple tasks but aparantly some people were raised by monkies in the jungle.

*end rant*

PhotoHunt - Undesirable

This weeks PhotoHunt theme is Undesirable. When a Sweet Potato has been in the pantry this long you don't want to eat it, but you have a strange fascination with how long will the little roots get.

The shrinking Mr. O

I've been working my ass off, figuratively and literally. I've lost a bunch of weight so far and I have lots to go still, but things are looking up. I'm getting compliments at work, home, and pretty much anywhere I go and someone I know sees me.

My pants are too big but I cinch up my belt and wear them anyway. On occasion I go to the back of my closet and pull out clothes I've been saving from my skinnier days... Today the first two pairs of pants didn't fit still, but pair number three did. It was a little tight on the waist but A 42 WAIST FIT. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will continue to work off the excess weight, become happier, healthier, and sexier ;)

The Erroneous Mr. O

As I work with my blog I decide to change different settings to best suit my/reader needs, and one such setting is the comments. Knowing I can delete comments on my posts I turned off moderation on all posts made within the last 2 weeks. For those posts that are older I have to decide to publish them, which is probably a good thing since most of them end up being spam for drugs or porn.

Well today I woke up to a comment on my post Sham-Hoe (March 31, 2009) waiting for moderation and I prepared to reject the spam, but low and behold it was a real comment:

Dear Author !
In my opinion. Your opinion is erroneous.

I laughed and laughed at the thought that some anonymous person called my opinion erroneous... Especially when the only thing that was real my opinion was "Vince Shlomi, better known as Vince Offer needs some lovin' too!" while the remaining post was a quote.

I may have to agree with the anonymous commenter after speaking with my blogging friend Smarmoofus. She pointed out that the Sham Wow guy seems to love himself enough, and maybe he doesn't need anymore loving.... Well whether he needs more loving or not, I still think that the anonymous comment is hilarious.

My New Friend

It's been forever since I've had a functioning computer, but finally my day has come. After some extensive computer work yesterday the little woman's computer is working again, and I went and got a Netbook. I am currently using my Asus - Eee PC Netbook (1005HAB-RRED001X). YAY! After some research it seemed to fit best with my computer needs and our budget. I can take it with me and I can also hook it up to my monitor, regular keyboard, and mouse so it will be just like a desktop. *does a happy dance*

I'm a brain surgeon

I just spent a large portion of the day on this little project but it all turned out great!!!

My computer hasn't worked for sometime so I have been using my iPhone, or stealing my wife's computer from time to time. Finally I took it in to get looked at and basically they said parts of the motherboard overheated and melted. DAMN IT YAY! Also at this time the hard drive in the little woman's computer was going bad (but it was still working somehow). So I today I took the brain from my computer, put it in hers, reformatted, installed windows, installed a bunch of her most used programs, and now she is ready to go! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet Now I am hoping to transplant my ram into her computer, and make the DVD drive an external DVD drive.*crosses fingers*

Tomorrow I'm planning on going to get my new computer. Finally I will be able to blog with a real keyboard.
